Animation and Hyperlinking Issues with PowerPoint

Known Animation and Hyperlinking Issues with TurningPoint:

Issue#1 Polling may open for a moment and then close.

Resolution: You cannot have Master Slide Animations in presentation that is running TurningPoint. They will need to be removed in order for the TurningPoint slides to run as intended. Applicable to all supported Office versions

Issue #2 Custom Animations in TurningPoint slides will not work properly when a Session is ran and reset. Animations will be reordered or changed from exit to entrance animations. It may also cause crashes in PowerPoint or even freezing in some presentations.

Resolution: Use custom animations on a powerpoint slide to bring in text. Then have a TurningPoint slide next after that to poll your slide. TurningPoint 4.2.3.231 has partially resolved some of these issues on the TurningPoint slide. Only in Office 2007 & 2010. Animations will now hold the set order after reset. Users are able to add some basic Entrance animations on single objects (i.e. pictures or whole textboxes) without issue. Some basic emphasis animations can be used as well, but some changes to the animation properties will not save when a session is reset. Exit and motion path animations are still not operable with TurningPoint 2008. Advancing through the animations in TurningPoint with polling open cannot be done as quickly as just running them in PowerPoint. Advancing through the animations too quickly will result in advancing to the next slide. We are still researching this issue for further resolution.

Issue #3 Countdown Timers not counting down all the way, Polling closing early, or freezing may occur on the TurningPoint slides.

Resolution: Check to see if there are any slide transitions that advance the slides. Any slide transitions that advance slides automatically should be removed. Applicable to all supported Office versions.

Issue #4 You may receive an error that PowerPoint has encountered an error and will need to close or it will freeze when you click a hyperlink to any external source (i.e. Media Player, Browser, or sound file).

Resolution: There is an add-in for PowerPoint called LiveWeb that creates a slide in PowerPoint that runs the webpage. This has been confirmed to resolve this issue with all versions of Office. As an alternative, open the Browser and websites before the presentation. Then hold Alt and click Tab on the keyboard to switch programs to the browser. This should not affect the TurningPoint presentation at all and does not require the user toexit out of the presentation to access the external programs by using Alt + Tab. Simply Alt + Tab again will go back to the presentation. Applicable to all supported Office versions.
